Contraceptive devices such as condoms and contraceptive pills are the most common and highly preferred ways of avoiding pregnancy. Contraceptive pills are those hormonal pills which do not allow an ovum to mature while the condoms have to be used externally in order to avoid pregnancy. These kinds of devices have to be implanted surgically and also have a success rate of about 90%. But they may not be suitable for all, as many people experience menstrual problems after using these.
Rapidly getting popularized in the western world, hormonal injections work the same way as those of the contraceptive pills. It changes the hormonal levels of the body which causes a hindrance in conception. However, unlike pills, these injections have to be taken only once in every 3 months which is helpful for many. But these are also known to cause some health problems and hence it should be discussed with your doctor before administering the injection.
Tubectomy and vasectomy
Both of these methods are a permanent solution to pregnancy worries. Tubectomy is a process when the fallopian tubes of a women are tied together in order to avoid the ovum from being released. Similarly in vasectomy the vas deferens of a man is severed so that sperm may not be ejected. These are surgical processes and hence require doctor’s permission before you further proceed with it.
